
Running 20 hours a day, everyday and serving all parts of
Central London, the underground (or tube) is one of the
Easiest ways to travel.
Tickets can be purchased from ticket machines
and ticket offices at all stations. Entering and leaving
the underground is made simple by the ticket operated gates. At
the end of your journey, if the value on your ticket is used
up, the gate will open but your ticket will be retained. Tonehe

1 covering central London.

With
over 17,000 bus stops all across London you're never
Far from a bus route. And with only two cash singles
fares covering the whole of London. Its especially simple
to get around. For any bus journey in outer London
the fare is just 70p And for journeys into, from, within
and across central London (Zone 1 ) the fare is £
1.00.Children under 16 years old can make any bus
journey in London for a flat fare of 40p(14 and 15
year olds require a Child Photo card). For One Day
Travel cards and longer period tickets. The bus network
is divided into four zones: Zone 1 covering central
London and Zone 2,3,4 covering outer London. In London
there are two types of bus stop which are treated
differently: :

Compulsory: Buses
always stop here unless full.
Request: To stop a bus put your hand and the
bus will stop, unless already full. To get off at a
request stop ring bell once and in good time to let
the driver know. Night buses (prefixed with the letter
N) treat all stops as request stops.
While most of London's buses are red,some come in
other colours also.

Daily riverboat services operate from most central London
piers. Services go to and from Greenwich and the Themes
barrier in the east and, during the summer ,as far as Hampton
Court in the west. Travel card and LT Cards are not accepted
on riverboat services. You can purchase tickets for most
trips at the pier or, in some cases on the boat.

The Docklands Light Railway(DLR) runs through the Docklands
and Canary Wharf from bank and Tower Gateway providing a
fast, scenic route to the Cutty Sark for Maritime Greenwich.Also
serving Stratford, Beckton and Lewisham. Travelcards are accepted.

Tramlink serve the center of Croydon and radiates out to
Wimbledon.Leaving approximately every 15 minutes it is one
of the most user friendly ways to travel in south London.Tickets
can be purchased from automatic ticket machine located at
the tram stops and Travelcards are accepted for travel.

The
National Rail network covers the entire country, leaving
from central London locations and spanning out to
even the remotest spots in the UK. Travelcards are
accepted within the Greater London area. Beyond that
you will need to purchase a ticket for your
journey either from the train station or,in some cases,on
the train.

Heathrow By Underground: The piccalilli
line serves. Heathrow with trains running every few minutes
from early morning to late evening .The journey time from
central London is around 50 minutes.
By bus: Airbus A2 runs every 30
minutes throughout the day from a number of stops in central
London. Alternatively, you can use the Feltham Railcar bus
link. Take the train to Feltham station (change at Clapham
Junction if necessary) for connecting service. National
Express coaches run from Victoria Coach Station every 30
minutes.
By rail: The Heathrow Express runs
direct, high speed trains between paddlington station and
Heathrow .Trains depart every 15 minutes and have a journey
time of 15 minutes to and from Heathrow Terminal 1,2 and
3. Allow an extra 5 minutes for journeys to and from Terminal
4. Gatwick
Conex South Central and Gatwick Express
rail service runs direct from Victoria Journey time is around
30-40 minutes. Thameslink rail service run from King's Cross
(Thameslink), Farringdon,Blackfriars and London Bridge station.
Airbus A5 operates hourly from Victoria Coach Station and
Pimlico Underground station
London City
Take the jubilee line or Docklands Light
Railway to canning Town for connecting shuttle bus service.
Shuttle bus service also run from Liverpool Street station
and Canary Wharf Underground and Docklands Light Railway
stations.
Stansted
Stansted Skytrian service run every 15
minutes (30 minutes on Saturday and Sundays) from Liverpool
Street and Tottenham Hale station. Airbus A6 departs from
Victoria Coach Station , Hyde Park Corner, Marble Aech and
Backer Street hourly. Alternatively, Airbus A7 departs from
Victoria Coach Station ,Embankment and Aldgate hourly.
Luton
Thameslink rail services run from London
bridge, Backfriars, Farringdon and King's Cross (Thameslink)
to Luton Airport Parkway station for the connecting free
shuttle bus service .Green line coaches run from Victoria
(Buckingham Palace Road),Hyde Park Corner, Marble Arch, George
Street and Baker Street
Night time travel
Daytime buses and the underground run
until approximately 0030.But the extensive system of Night
buses operates throughout the night serving the city's many
bars , clubs ,restaurants, theatres and cinemas.
On Night buses there are generally two adult
single bus fares. For any bus journey in outer London the
fare is just £ 1.00 and for journey into , form , within
and across central London (Zone 1) the fare is £ 1.50.
Child fares are not available before 0430. All Night bus
route numbers start with the letter 'N'.
Staying Safe
General advice
Smoking is not permitted on public transport.
Please keep personal belongings with you at all times
to avoid delays caused by security alerts (abandoned luggage
may be destroyed). Be aware that pickpockets and tickets
touts operate in busy areas. Please take note of all safety
notices and in the unlikely event of an emergency follow
the instructions of our trained staff . You will find that
travelling is easier and more comfortable outside of the
busy 'rush hour' which is at 0800-0930 and 1700-1800 Monday
to Friday
Lifts and escalators
Keep loose clothing and luggage clear
of lift doors .On escalators take extra care with childern. Pushchairs and buggies should be folded. Please be careful
when stepping on or off an escalator , especially when carrying
luggage.
Platforms Do not stand near the
edge. Never try to pick any belongings that have fallen on
the track because it is electrified . Ask staff for assistance.
Boarding trains ,buses and trams
Never obstruct doors or try to get on
or off as the doors are closing. Mind the gap between the
train and platform edge when entering or leaving the train
.Only get on or off a bus , train or tram when it is stationary.
